Jillene Joseph (Gros Ventre) Executive Director has a Bachelor of Science degree in community health education. Previous to Native Wellness Institute she directed the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board’s Project Red Talon for nearly ten years providing HIV prevention and other health promotion services to NW tribal communities.

Jay LaPlante (Blackfoot & Cree) is a founding board member of the Native Wellness Institute. For 19 years, he has provided training and technical assistance on community building approaches to prevent suicide, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, HIV/STDs, and other social, health, education, and political issues.

Kim Just (Gros Ventre ) Executive Administrative Assistant has many years of experience planning large scale trainings and conferences, such as the National American Indian Conference on Child Abuse & Neglect for the National Indian Child Welfare Association, where she worked for 10 years before coming to the Native Wellness Institute in January 2006.

Shannon Kissinger (Colville) Project Assistant/ Graphic Designer
Shannon maintains and creates graphics and media support for the Native Wellness Institute. As lead Photographer and Media Specialist, she documents and provides resources to Native Wellness Institute's DVD, Web Sites, Internet Projects, Print, & CDRom and other multimedia.

Abigail Portugal Project Assistant
I recently graduated from Saint Martin's University with a bachelor’s degree in community service. Previously, I worked at a local community college where I helped to reestablish and manage their student testing center, also I worked as a student support liaison for a grant program called The New Path.

William B. Penn Jr. (Quileute /Squaxin Island) Merchandise Coordinator
I was born 1961 in Olympia, Washington, on the 24th of December- which is why my essence is a gift of unconditional love, laughter and healing. I grew up on both the Quileute reservation and Squaxin Island Indian community. I graduated from Forks High School and then spent ten years in the army as a medic where I got to be part of liberating a country from its bad self. I served on Tribal Council for the Quileute Tribe and then for the Squaxin Island Tribe.
