Administration for Native Americans (ANA) ANT Project
NWI was just awarded with a two-year ANA-funded ANT Project which begins in October 2008 and will conclude in September 2010. The ANT (All Native Training) Project follows the traditional story of ANT Woman who brought light to the people. In that respect, the ANT project will provide culturally relevant, wellness-focused training and skill-building along with curriculum development in the following areas: Adult Leadership, Youth Leadership, Staff Development and Life Skills. Further, NWI will work with five tribes and their representatives to participate in the curriculum development process by working with the NWI team.

Healthy Marriage Initiative (HMI) Grant
In 2005, NWI was awarded a three-year ANA grant to develop a healthy relationship curriculum based in Native culture. The curriculum, Leading the Next Generations, is based on the healthy relationship work of Pam and Gordon James including their book “ComingTogether in a Good Way.”
The purpose of the curriculum is to engage traditional Native teachings to address the challenges that have led to the deterioration of the Native family system and provide a much-needed resource for tribes and Native organizations nationally to more effectively promote healthier relationships, healthier marriages and healthier families within Native communities.
The Leading the Next Generation curriculum is now available to tribal communities and organizations nationally. The grant has recently ended; however, NWI will continue to provide training-of-trainers to certify instructors to teach this curriculum in your community or for your organization.
