Choose Respect: Men's Mentoring Program to Uplift Women
About the TrainingTribal communities embrace strong efforts of cultural revitalization, community engagement and provide healing opportunities. Yet, physical violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and child sexual abuse continues on tribal lands, in urban centers and areas in between- violence against women by men. Most often, it is women helping other women to heal from these traumatic experiences, bringing awareness to the prevalence of violence and helping women learn more about healthy relationships. Where are the men in all of this? Small pockets of men across the Nation are stepping up to make positive change, to take responsibility to hold themselves and other men accountable and to END violence against women. There is much more work to be done.
This new online training being offered by the Native Wellness Institute will provide a framework for men to engage in conversation with each other about violence against women, to help men of all ages to better understand where their hurt, pain, anger and rage comes from and how men can gather with other men, virtually, to choose respect to end this violence. |
