Gathering of Native Americans (GONA)
November 12 - 14, 2024
Barbie's Village 935 NE 33rd Ave. Portland, Oregon 97232 |
Welcome to the Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) Training of Trainers. The GONA curriculum, created between 1990 and 1994, has proven to be a powerful model for healing and planning within tribal communities, effectively addressing the effects of historical and inter-generational trauma. These effects include issues such as substance abuse, suicide, methamphetamine and other drug use, violence, and poverty. This training aims to equip participants with the skills to facilitate a GONA session in their own community or organization.
During the training, participants will explore the four foundational phases of GONA: belonging, mastery, interdependence, and generosity. Each participant will receive a handout packet that can be duplicated for future GONA sessions and used in their community.
